A Legacy Crafted Through Time

The story of luxury watchmaking is one of practical ideas turned into enduring design. Patek Philippe began in Geneva in 1839, while Bovet was founded in 1822 with an eye toward international markets. In 1904, Louis Cartier created the Santos watch for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, helping make the wristwatch an object of style as well as utility. Rolex built its reputation on precision and innovation, introducing its waterproof Oyster case in 1926.

Designers and watchmakers became prominent by giving each house a distinctive identity. Gérald Genta’s 1972 Royal Oak helped Audemars Piguet redefine the luxury sports watch; TAG Heuer earned recognition through chronograph innovation and sports timing; Zenith’s El Primero became a landmark automatic chronograph. From traditional Swiss craftsmanship to Jacob & Co.’s bold, jewelry-inspired creations, these names continue to stand out through signature designs and technical ambition.
